How do children become orphans?

A child can become an orphan if his/her parents die from sickness or in a
war or in an accident.
A child can also become an orphan because his/her parents give away their
child, or the parents die because of famine or their parents get killed by
their own child because the older soldiers force them to kill their
parents.
In Rwanda and Burundi one of the ways a child can become a orphan is
because their parents die from Aids.

Why do orphans need help?

Orphans who are poor need help because if the orphan are young they can't
take care of themselves.
Also even though orphans might be able to take care of themselves if they
don't have any money or a place to stay then they need help. Orphans need
help in a lot of ways for example If orphans don't have anyone to look
after them and if they get badly injured then they need help.

The Iraqi Orphan Care Organization (IOCO) is a
non-governmental-organization which helps orphans.
This organization relieves poverty among the Iraqi Orphans. They help the
orphans by giving them support.
They give medical care and physical treatment.

Another organization which helps orphans is the Yokohama International
Woman's Club (YIWC).
They help support the Yamate School For The Blind. They also donate food
and clothing for the homeless.
The orphans they support live in 4 buildings built 30 years ago about
10-12 orphans in each building.
With the help of Yokohama International School (Y.I.S.) there is a
chirstmas party every year. YWIC also provides presents on the orphan's
birthdays or when they graduate.

How can we help the orphans?

These are ways you can help some of the orphans.
You can help by donating stuff like childrens clothes, vegetable seeds,
gardening tools, sewing supplies, vitamins/medicine, medical supplies
(band-aids), quilts, sheets, blankets, pillows and diapers. You can also

Why are there a lot of orphans in Japan?

This is about an orphanage in Japan called The Sanders Home. That
orphanage was built after World War 2. All of the orphanages are not only
a place for children without parents. There are still some orphans who
don't have parents anymore but mostly the children have parents but they
don't live with them. It could be because of the parents not wanting to
keep them or can't keep them. Mostly all the orphans in the orphanage got
abused by their parents. These orphans may not be poor in the material
way. They have video games, TVs and A lot of toys that were donated by
organizations. But what these orphans really want is someone to care for
them. So the orphans in Japan could be rich in material but the thing that
really matters is that their life is still poor.

What does it feel like to live in a Japanese Orphanage?

In a Japanese orphanage called Seiboaijien this is what an orphan does every day morning to night, their daily routine. In the morning the orphan eats breakfast with all the other orphans. Then the orphans all go to school together if they go to the same school. When school is over they go back to their orphanage. When they get back to their orphanage they do homework. Since there are a lot of orphans and they are all living together their dinner time is set at a certain time because they all eat together. The orphans play together and with the staff untill dinner is ready. When they are done with dinner they take baths seperately. The orphans watch TV until it's time to go to bed.
